22 miles w/ 3000ft elevation (35km w/ 910m)

Born in 2013 as an anytime challenge The Ilkley Skyline has quickly established itself as a classic fell running route that encompasses the moors surrounding Ilkley.

Route

Starting and finishing at the Hermit in Burley Woodhead, this 22 mile loop includes Beamsley Beacon, Round Hill and the summits along Burley Moor, Ilkley Moor and Rombalds Moor. In fact, this route covers at least 8 moors. Most is fell or field running with some short sections of road, the longest section being the climb up from the river at the stepping stones through Burley back to the Hermit.

The race will include a number of checkpoints plus 2 aid stations at Addingham (14km), and Timble (25km).

Navigation

The route is unmarked, runners will require a route map / gpx file to navigate the route. (GPX ALLOWED) Gpx Route available in maps tab. The route takes place on 100% accesible land, recces are encouraged but not essential.

The Ilkley Skyline is based on the route conceived in 2013 by North Leeds Fell Runner Mike Ayers.

The Ilkley Skyline Half is a 21km point to point from Addingham suspension bridge to The Hermit following the same route.

Runners will be transported from the Hermit to Addingham once the Ilkley Skyline has started.
