About This Event

The People's Care Movement hosts summer gatherings at Loading Bay in Bradford. The programme focuses on care, culture, and action. Tickets are £0.00.

The People’s Care Movement is bringing you an exciting programme of care, culture and action at Loading Bay in August!

What to expect

Members of the People’s Care Movement will be running activities for collective care and explore issues that matter to our communities across four themed Saturdays 1-4pm: 1st Aug - Creative Day, 8th Aug - Climate Day, 15th Aug - Mental and Physical Health Day, and 22nd Aug - Culture Day. Feel free to drop in on all 4 days, or on days that suit you, or for certain hours on any given day. We look forward to your presence. Please scroll down for the agenda.

Everyone is welcome to come along and: Spend time in a caring and welcoming environment, see and experiene and be part of the creativity of People’s Care Movement members, eat lunch together, have your voice heard, learn how to seek support and support others.

You’ll also have the chance to creatively explore the struggle for better social care, migrants’ rights, health and wellbeing equality, and making a world where we can all thrive, together!

You are welcome to join us for all the days or just one, and you can take part in as many or as few activities as you like.

📍 Location: Loading Bay, 1 Duke St, Bradford BD1 3QR, 3rd floor

Accessibility and Information

The venue is wheelchair accessible, with wheelchair accessible toilets.

There is no pressure here! Please be yourself, come as you are, be welcome to sit out of any activities, join in how you like, take breaks, come and go.

The activities running 2-4pm can be joined online via zoom if you select the online ticket option.

Booking helps us plan so please do if you can! But we understand it isn’t always easy to plan, and you are welcome to just turn up! (but childcare, and online joining must be booked so we can send the link)

People’s Care Movement members can help interpret a range of languages, including: Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi, Kurdish, Arabic, Polish. Please contact us in advance if you would like language support.

All activities, lunch and refreshments are free, though donations are welcome.

There will be vegan, gluten free, halal options. Please add a note to your booking or contact us about any other dietry requirements

If the weather is good, we may eat on picnic benches in a private outside space.

Please contact us in advance if you need support with travel, as we have a limited budget to cover public transport or taxi costs.

If parents/carers weren’t able to book a HAF place, or if children at HAF need to come see their parents, they are welcome! And we will do our best to help keep the space a calm environment and focused on the activities

The events may become busy or loud with people chatting, (or some spontaneous performance on the art day…) there is a quiet room available, if someone else or a child from the HAF programme is using it, we would encourage you to make use of a sheltered outdoor area for a break.

There are plugs where you can charge your phone.

If you have any access needs, questions, or skills that could help make the event more accessible (for example BSL interpretation), please contact us: peoplescaremovement@gmail.com or WhatsApp: +44 7400 294182

About us:

The People's Care Movement, rooted in Bradford, is a collaborative group of people with lived connections to care, including through being disabled and neurodivergent, migrants, carers, parents, children, and people who are excluded from care, and affected by inequality and discrimination. We use our lived connection to care to create more caring and inclusive communities. The People’s Care Movement was brought together in 2025 by Josie Tothill, working as an Our Patch Creative Practitioner with Bradford City of Culture. You can find out more here

SEND Salaam works with community centres and religious spaces to support SEND children & families, celebrating and fostering positive approaches to care within diverse communities.

BH Childcare is Bushra’s freelance project, which has been providing quality childcare for over 15 years.

Donations

The People’s Care Movement is fundraising so we can continue creating spaces of care, connection and accessible ways to learn and take action together. You can support us by: coming to events, sharing the event with others, asking to get involved, and making a donation if you’re able. You can donate when you buy your ticket, or with cash at the event
