Perfect for beginners, a fun silk painting created on an embroidery loop - take away a handmade piece of art for your home
Join us at Liberation Art Gallery for a relaxing and creative silk painting workshop, where participants will design and paint a beautiful floral or sea life artwork on silk, stretched within an embroidery hoop.
In this guided session, you’ll be introduced to the basics of silk painting, learning how dyes flow on silk and how to layer colour to create soft, expressive floral designs. Working within an embroidery hoop frame, participants will create a finished textile piece that is both delicate and vibrant.
This workshop is a 2-hour silk painting introduction that introduces new materials, encourages self-expression in your painting choice, and allows you to slow down and enjoy the creative process. It encourages taking time, noticing materials, responding intuitively, and allowing the artwork to evolve without pressure. Slowing down the creative process helps regulate the nervous system, reduces performance anxiety, and supports mindfulness, presence, and self-connection.
Slow Painting is an intentional, unhurried way of making art.
Participants are invited to pause, observe, layer, and respond gradually to materials rather than rushing toward a finished product.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some creative experience. The focus is on exploration, colour, and enjoyment rather than technical perfection. By the end of the session, you’ll take home your completed silk artwork—ready to hang as a decorative piece or gift.
All materials are provided, and step-by-step guidance will be available throughout the workshop.
