This summer, join us for worldwide holiday fun as we celebrate the 2026 Commonwealth Games at the Burrell! Discover the Commonwealth Games values of Destiny, Equality and Humanity every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during the school holidays. All activities run 1.30 - 4pm on the dates listed below: 30 June, 1 and 2 July: World Collage Make a collage celebrating all the cultures of the world found in the collection 7 and 8 July: Medal Workshop Make three medals to award to your favourite objects in the museum 9 July: Silk Road Use clay to create pots and sculptures based on Islamic, Chinese and Central Asian pieces in the collection 14 July: Degas' Eyesight Create works of art based on Degas using oil, pastels and watercolours 15 July: Who's that Girl? Learn about the women in our collection and create portraits based on their stories 16 July: Handy badges Make a badge of your name while learning basic BSL greetings and letters 21 July: Bioblitz / Citizen Science Get hands on with nature and discover the plants and minibeasts of the park 22 and 23 July: Art Attack Landscapes Use materials to recreate Burrell landscapes, on the ground from a bird’s eye view 28 July: Greek Mythologies Create a Greek god or monster by playing the exquisite corps game 29 July: Egyptian Mythologies Use hieroglyphics to create an ancient Egyptian scroll that tells the story of an Egyptian myth 30 July: Chinese Mythologies Write your own superhero comic based on the eight Chinese figures in the Burrell 4, 5 and 6 August: Mini Commonwealth Games* A series of sporting activities based on objects in the displays. * This activity takes place outside and is weather dependant. Should the weather be poor, an alternative activity will be offered.
