About This Event
Wulfheodenas and The Saxon Smiths are present at Sutton Hoo in Ipswich on 1 August 2026. This event features the sights and sounds of the Anglo-Saxon world through living history demonstrations.
Enjoy the sights and sounds of the Anglo-Saxon world as we are joined by the living history group Wulfheodenas and The Saxon Smiths.
Wander through the Anglo-Saxon encampment to see crafts people hard at work and warriors dressed ready for battle. The Saxon Smiths will be hard at work demonstrating historic metalworking techniques using their forge. The Saxon Smiths project is to make every iron and non-ferrous item from the Early Saxon period 450-650 AD. So far they have around 600 items on the list, here they will be continuing their Swanton Spear collection amongst other items.
There will be special timed activities over the course of the weekend which will be announced nearer the time.
This event is part of Sutton Hoo's Warrior Weekend which also includes the return of the popular Wargaming the Age of the Anglo-Saxons event which will be taking place nearby.
