Backroom Live: Annekkein Backroom Live is an intimate live music and creative community series based in London, designed to bring audiences closer to emerging artists while creating space for genuine connection between musicians, creatives, and listeners. On Friday 7th August , we're excited to welcome Annekkein for a stripped-back live performance and conversation in an intimate studio setting at Arcus Sounds, West Ham. Originally from Ukraine , Annekkein moved to London several years ago, navigating a new language, culture, and life far from home. Her songwriting explores themes of love, identity, belonging, and the quiet loneliness that can come with starting over in a new country. Growing up in a post-Soviet country where queer education and representation were limited, Annekkein also writes openly about her experiences as a bisexual woman, capturing the uncertainty, vulnerability, and excitement of discovering love that once felt unfamiliar or out of reach. This is not a typical gig. Previous artists have described Backroom Live as feeling like "one big picnic",  a relaxed, welcoming space where there's no stage barrier or distance between artist and audience. It's an evening built around music, conversation, and genuine connection, where everyone is encouraged to simply be present, discover new artists, and meet like-minded people. Following her live set, Annekkein will join us for an open conversation about her music, creative process, inspirations, and personal journey, with the audience invited to ask questions and be part of the discussion. The evening will conclude with an open mic, giving attendees and local artists the opportunity to perform, connect, and share their work in a supportive space.
