When: Every Friday, 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM (Drop-in basis) About: Step into our beautiful, thriving community permaculture garden for a day of connection, learning, and growth! Our weekly drop-in sessions are the heart of our green space, where volunteers come together to cultivate not just plants, but a vibrant community. This is your chance to get your hands in the soil, meet like-minded people, and learn practical, hands-on skills. What might you do on a Friday? You could be plant ing seeds in our 6 raised beds, nurturing seedlings in the greenhouse or polytunnel, learning to maintain our hazel coppice, tending to our fruit trees, or turning our compost system. Explore Edinburgh’s first Seed Library and join our special Seedy Social Seed Library sessions to swap, share, and learn about seed saving. Beyond growing, sessions can involve garden planning, creative nature crafting, food preserving workshops, or community DIY projects. Every task is a chance to learn and contribute. This is a truly collaborative space; we collectively decide what we grow, and volunteer input directly shapes our activities. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or have never held a trowel, you are welcome to join for an hour or the whole day to enjoy the peace of the garden and give back to the community. Community Lunch Every week, we join the community lunch from 1 – 2pm. This is a potluck so if you are wishing to join, please bring a vegetarian dish to share. Looking for more? We frequently organize specific, in-depth workshops— check our event calendar for upcoming ticketed sessions on topics like bask et weaving, herbal remedies, or seasonal harvest feasts! About the Facilitators: Our sessions are facilitated by Hannah Brazil and Gray Davis. Hannah is a veritable seed expert, community gardener, and nature enthusiast. She has been working in and around Edinburgh at various seed projects and community gardens for many years. Gray is a permaculture teacher and community organizer keen to share his skills and passion for growing. He has started and worked in various community garden projects in Edinburgh for a decade. Room: Garden Accessibility: The garden is accessible to wheelchairs via a movable ramp through the Art Room Annex. Please let the organisers know in advance of any access requirements. Please note: Our current planting beds are low to the ground, which can present challenges for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility. We are actively working to improve this with more accessible infrastructure. The Salisbury Centre’s kitchen door and toilet are now wheelchair accessibl e. The Garden can also be accessed by wheelchairs via a movable ramp via the Art Room Annex. Please let the organisers know in advance of any access requirements. Additionally, if relevant, please fill in this PEEP template and share it with the organisers. Cost: This event is free. Got Ideas? We love hearing from our community! If you have questions about the sessions or a suggestion for a workshop you’d love to see, please reach out and let us know.
