A Natural History of Loe Bar and the Sandhill Rustic Moth

About This Event

Join us for an evening talk exploring the history of Loe Bar and its unique status as the home of the only known population of the Cornish Sandhill Rustic moth, one of Britain's rarest moths. Led by Adrian Spalding, a national expert on the ecology of Loe Bar and author of Loe Bar and the Sandhill Rustic Moth (2015), this talk will explore the history and ecology of this remarkable place. The moth is now part of Butterfly Conservation's Ensuring the Future of Threatened Moths: Translocations project, a Species Recovery Programme funded by Natural England. Learn more about the project and the opportunities to get involved. The talk will last approximately one hour and will be followed by an optional, weather-dependent visit to Loe Bar to search for the adult moth. If the site visit cannot go ahead on the day, there may be an opportunity to arrange a visit later in August.
