Journey through Drum's fascinating history to discover more about the luxuries and labour of those who called the Castle home.

Join us on this special new tour to explore the Castle and estate and delve further into the nature, culture and history of one of Scotland's oldest Tower houses and stunning ancient oak woodland.

Metaphorically put on the slippers of Mary Irvine and enjoy the artistry in the drawing room, then imagine yourself in the shoes of a tenant farmer in the private office of the Laird. Discover what life was like for rich and poor, before immersing yourself in the Old Wood of Drum which now contributes a different kind of wealth. The first half of the tour will take place in the Castle as we explore lives of long-established Irvine family. Following this we will head outside to discover the beauty, hardwork and nature of the Old Wood.

The tour will last 1.5 hours, and will end in the Old Wood. You are welcome to walk back along the waymarked trail with the guides, or stay to enjoy exploring on your own. The whole trail is 1.6 km, and please bear in mind that there won't be any opportunities to sit down during this part of the tour. The terrain within the wood will be fairly uneven so sturdy boots are recommended. Please dress ready to brave whatever the glorious Scottish weather throws at us, with warm and waterproof layers as needed.
