📅 Friday, 28 August

⏰ 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM

📍 Somebody Cares Scotland –Royfold House, Hill of Rubislaw, Aberdeen AB15 6GZ

Whether you volunteer regularly or this is your first time, this is an opportunity to give back, meet new people, work together and make a positive difference in just a few hours.

🌍 Human Duties in Action

This volunteering day forms part of the JCI Human Duties Rally, an initiative encouraging JCI members to turn our shared human responsibilities into meaningful action through community service, collaboration and positive local impact.

Our afternoon with Somebody Cares is about doing exactly that. Human Duties are not only about what we believe — they are about what we do. Sometimes making a difference starts simply by showing up and being willing to help.

💙 Supporting Somebody Cares

Somebody Cares provides practical support to people experiencing hardship across the Aberdeen community. Their work helps individuals and families through the provision of essential items including food, clothing, furniture and other household necessities.

By volunteering, we’ll be supporting some of the practical work that happens behind the scenes to help these essential items reach the people who need them.

🙌 What Will We Be Doing?

Every volunteering day is different, and our activities will depend on where the Somebody Cares team needs our help most on the day.

Activities may include:

🎁 Preparing and organising donated items

📦 Moving and handling food bank supplies

👕 Sorting and arranging donated clothing

🥫 Organising food and other essential items

🤝 Helping with other practical tasks around the charity

Come ready to roll up your sleeves, work as a team and have some fun while supporting a great local cause!

📍 Location & Arrival

The session is currently planned to take place at Somebody Cares HQ at Royfold House. Depending on attendance numbers and available space, we may instead volunteer at their Denmore Road, Bridge of Don location.

The final venue, meeting point and other practical information will be shared with registered participants ahead of the event.

Please arrive by 1:20 PM for registration and a short briefing before volunteering begins at 1:30 PM.

🧥 What to Wear

Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing suitable for practical volunteering activities. We also recommend bringing a warm jacket, as some of the larger working areas may not be heated.

👥 Who Can Join?

The event is open to JCI members aged 18–40, with non-JCI members also welcome when attending as an invited guest of a JCI member.

You don't need previous volunteering experience ,just bring your energy, enthusiasm and willingness to lend a hand.

✨ Why Get Involved?

A few hours of your time can help organise essential supplies, prepare donations and support the wider work of an organisation helping people through challenging circumstances.

It's also a chance to connect with others, experience community volunteering first-hand and put the values behind Human Duties into practice.

💙 Small actions. Shared responsibility. Bigger impact.
