Workshop: This is Just to Say with Tracey S. Rosenberg

How would you feel if someone wrote you a poem as an apology?In this workshop, we'll be reading and responding to one of theshortest, sweetest poems ever written – 'This is Just to Say' by theAmerican poet William Carlos Williams. We'll begin with a discussionexploring how Williams manages to pack so much into such a smallspace, and the ways in which the physical tools of writing caninfluence how we write. (He was a country doctor who wrote poems onhis prescription pads!) Then we'll write our own apologies, usingWilliams's as an inspiration.This workshop is open to writers of any and all poetry experience,from beginners to well-versed!

Tracey S. Rosenberg is a poet and spoken word artist. She's the current Loud Poets Inverness champion and has competed in the Scottish National Slam Championships twice. She's working on a full-length collection about the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Unrequited War Trauma, for which she's received Creative Scotland funding. She's also been awarded a New Writers Award from the Scottish Book Trust and a Fulbright scholarship in creative writing. Originally from Chicago, she now makes Edinburgh her home.
