Join us for a morning at Midsomer Norton Town Park where we will be tackling scrub encroachment on the batch.

Join us for this classic winter time task as we help manage this grassland by removing encroaching scrub on the batch.

There are orchids and wildflowers growing in this grassland and without intervention the site will become a thicket of scrub and not much else. To preserve biodiveristy we want to maintain a mosaic of habitats so we will remove species that are growing in the grassland areas.

📅 Date & Time: 17/10/2026 09:45am – 12:00 noon

No experience is needed—our volunteer leaders will guide you through the tasks, and all tools will be provided. Just bring suitable outdoor clothing and enthusiasm!

Children are welcome at this session but must be supervised by a parent or guardian at ALL times. The supervising adult remains responsible for their child’s safety and behaviour throughout. We’ll do our best to include child-friendly tasks where possible, but some activities and tools may not be suitable for younger participants.

This activity is organised by our new roving Friends of Somer Valley group, bringing people together to care for green spaces across the valley. We’re supported by Midsomer Norton Town Council, Radstock Town Council, and Westfield Parish Council.
