Join us as we venture into the Dark Skies to the south of Bath in search of the ancient mythology that lies behind the naming of the constellations. We will begin by getting to know the northern constellations: Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, Draco, Cassiopeia and Cepheus. These are constellations that are in the northern night sky every night of the year so they are well worth getting to know. Turning our attention to the southern skies we will talk about the great circle of constellations known as the Zodiac and ask just why we have this feature of the night sky. We will seek out the constellations of our ancient ancestors and discover the stories attached to them. After and hour of stargazing we will retire to the Fox and Badger to enjoy a drink and a chat over charts and maps of the celestial realms. A Walk in the Past is a friendly group where regulars and newcomers are always welcome. Our aim is to combine a good walk with pleasant company in historic landscapes. Lifts are often available to our events from Bristol and Bath.
