Join this small-group tour and experience timeless charm in the villages of Castle Combe and Lacock , then discover the mysterious stones of Avebury and Stonehenge . This tour offers a perfect blend of history, beauty and discovery. Leaving Bath in the morning, we journey through the rolling countryside to the idyllic Cotswold village of Castle Combe , often called the 'prettiest village in England.' Its market cross, babbling brook and honey-coloured cottages create a scene straight from a storybook. Take time to soak up the idyllic Cotswolds atmosphere. From one picture-perfect village to another, we continue to Lacock , a National Trust village where cobbled streets, medieval cottages and traditional inns have made it a favourite filming location — from Harry Potter to Downton Abbey. Take time to stroll, take photos of filming locations and enjoy a refreshment in a local tearoom. We'll remain in Lacock with time to have some lunch. In the afternoon, we travel on to Avebury , a remarkable site where an entire village sits within the world's largest stone circle. At Avebury we are able to wander freely among the standing stones, to touch them, and to appreciate their extraordinary scale. From one stone circle to another, our final stop is the world-famous Stonehenge . Here we'll have time to explore this prehistoric masterpiece; walk the perimeter of the great stone circle, visit the award-winning exhibition and uncover the myths, legends and archaeology of Britain's most iconic ancient site. Return to Bath Our Stonehenge and Cotswolds tour returns to Bath and the Abbey Hotel by approximately 5:30pm.
