On 14 September 2026, Ballyclare High School hosts an evening focused on fostering a positive and healthy understanding of masculinity for parents and carers. The event will feature an overview of the school's journey in this area, providing a space for families to explore these topics together. Various speakers have been invited to facilitate this open discussion at Belfast's high school venue. Attendees are welcome to register their interest and participate in shaping supportive environments for young people.
This event will help parents/carers explore how we can work together to foster a positive, healthy understanding of masculinity.
The evening will begin with an overview of our journey in developing our CORE programme, highlighting the opportunities it provides for positive peer support, personal development and leadership.
The second part of the evening will be led by Dave Thompson from Progressive Masculinity Ltd, who will explore three important questions:
What ideas and perceptions of masculinity are influencing many young people today?
What social and cultural factors are shaping these views?
How can parents and carers create supportive, non-judgemental spaces at home to encourage open conversations and help boys develop a positive and aspirational understanding of what it means to be a man in today's world?
It will provide practical strategies, insights and resources that you can use to support your son with confidence.
Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity to meet staff and other parents over refreshments and continue the conversation in an informal setting.
