EXHIBITION
Susan Connolly: These are the roads I have walked and know well
In her new collection, midwinter, Susan Connolly
explores the local landscape of Drogheda and
surrounding area in lyric shapes and in visual poetry
using a typewriter font, handwriting and two letter
stamp sets. After making concrete poetry in the form
of freehand word-drawings for four years, in 2009 she
wrote her first typewriter poem, 'The Sun-Artist', on a
portable Olympia typewriter.
Many of her recent typewriter poems have been
influenced by the use of step pattern in the Lindisfarne
Gospels and by early Irish illuminated manuscripts of
the eighth and ninth centuries.
Join Macha Press to celebrate the publication of

Connolly's verbal -visual matter and concertina books.
