This pioneering Encyclopedia analyses theoretical insights and global practice relating to the intersections between law and peace. It brings together over 140 international scholars and expert practitioners to explore the concepts, theories, actors, bodies of law and institutions within this essential area of scholarship.

The Encyclopedia’s editors are Professor Louise Mallinder (Deputy Director, Queen’s Institute for Peace, Security and Justice, and Professor in the School of Law), Dr Lauren Dempster (Institute Fellow and School of Law) and Dr Rachel Killean (University of Sydney). The contributing authors include academics, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers associated with the Institute and the School of Law.

Co-hosted by the Queen’s Institute for Peace, Security and Justice and the School of Law, this event brings the editors and some of the authors who contributed to this collection. They will reflect on the value of an Encyclopedia project that brings together multiple perspectives on how diverse legal regimes, institutions, actors, and theories can help us understand how to achieve and sustain peace. They will reflect on what it exposes about the state of knowledge and practice on these important questions as a time of geopolitical change.

The event will conclude with an informal reception (drinks and refreshments provided).
