Explore human rights through mixed media art and creative writing, challenging labels and promoting empathy, equality and inclusion.
Changing the Narrative is a creative wellbeing workshop that explores labels, perspectives and stories through creativity. The workshop encourages participants to reflect on what shapes our personal narratives, how narratives in society influence the way we see ourselves and others, and how we can challenge perceptions and change the narrative to promote empathy, understanding and equality.
Using mixed media art, participants will create their own creative wellbeing journal and take part in creative writing and visual art activities that explore identity, self-expression, belonging and equal human rights.
Changing the Narrative is a workshop developed by Angela O’Hara, a creative wellbeing practitioner with a background in mental health education and participatory creative arts. Angela uses writing, storytelling, filmmaking, visual arts and creative wellbeing activities to help people embrace their stories, find their voice, build confidence, improve wellbeing and create meaningful change.
Angela is the founder of Creative Changemakers CIC, a social enterprise that uses mental wellbeing, education and creative arts to raise awareness and inspire change around issues affecting people in society.
That's Powerful is a part of Making Peaceful Change, a project supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). Making Peaceful Change is delivered in partnership with The Playhouse and Inishowen Development Partnership.
