We are offering a unique experience where we will open the doors behind the heart of Birmingham Assay Office.

This event will include a talk on the history of hallmarking and the success of Birmingham Assay Office since it was founded in 1773. You will be invited to view our Silver Collection of notable archive pieces created by some of Birmingham’s most celebrated Silversmiths, including Matthew Boulton, Nathaniel Mills and Elkington & Co.

You will also be given behind the scenes access to see how our incredible team hallmark today using both traditional and modern practices.

Tea and coffee provided.

Please note that Birmingham Assay Office operates from a secure building. Once a booking is made, we will be in touch and you will be asked to provide photo ID in the form of a driving license or passpost, ahead of the event. By sending your ID, you consent to Birmingham Assay Office storing your ID on file for 30 days after the event before it is permanently deleted.

If you are unable to provide photo ID in advance, you may not be allowed access to the building or event.

Upon arrival to Birmingham Assay Office, you may be subject to physical security checks.

The ticket charge will be donated to charity.
