Metropolis at 100: Film with Orchestra

Metropolis at 100: Film with Orchestra

About This Event

Symphony Hall commemorates the centenary of Fritz Lang’s *Metropolis* with a screening of the silent sci-fi masterpiece, accompanied by a live orchestra. The original 1927 score by Gottfried Huppertz, edited by Hans Brandner and Ben Palmer, is performed in its entirety, restoring the film’s rhythmic and emotional heft. The music swells and recedes in tandem with the on-screen machinery and human drama, from the clattering gears of the subterranean city to the quiet desperation of its workers. This singular matinee presentation takes place on Saturday 9 January 2027 at 11am. Tickets are available from £15 to £42.
