**📚 Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk (fiction)** **Part of our reading journey:** Living a life (*Stoner*) → Questioning ourselves (*Fight Club*) → Understanding our behaviour (*Behave*) → Understanding our minds (*The Hidden Spring*). **What happens when the life we’ve built no longer feels like our own?** The narrator has a job, a comfortable apartment, designer furniture and everything modern consumer society tells him he should want. Yet he feels empty, disconnected and increasingly dissatisfied. His encounter with Tyler Durden leads him towards a radical rejection of the life he has been living. But is escaping society really the same as becoming free? **Fight Club explores:** \* Consumerism and the illusion of happiness \* Identity and the search for meaning \* Alienation and dissatisfaction \* Masculinity and social expectations \* Rebellion and freedom \* Destruction and self-discovery \* The hidden forces that shape our behaviour And perhaps the central question: **Are we living the lives we actually want, or are we simply following desires and expectations that have been created for us?** Audio book recommended: Narrated by: [Jim Colby](https://www.audible.co.uk/search?searchNarrator=Jim+Colby&ref_pageloadid=not_applicable&pf_rd_p=7e7340a8-8768-4798-a0ce-83f879c09110&pf_rd_r=H39YCHD2BZSMJSS3BSPR&plink=uLFNCjTVL52z55WX&pageLoadId=KJ91VuA4dDM0AUFI&creativeId=14d6a1c2-a3f8-499b-900a-1ae788c317b1&ref=a_library_t_c5_libItem_narrator_3) Note: Please read the book before attending.
