Learn more about the fire service, see fire engines and other vehicles up close, meet our crews and see a range of exciting demos. </p> <p><!-- /wp:paragraph --></p> <p><!-- wp:paragraph --></p> <p><strong>This open day is at Sheldon Fire Station – celebrating its 70th anniversary this year – on Saturday 29 August 2026, between 11am and 4pm.</strong></p> <p><!-- /wp:paragraph --></p> <p><!-- wp:paragraph --></p> <p>No RSVP or tickets are necessary, but you can RSVP to get a free reminder the day before!</p> <p><!-- /wp:paragraph --></p> <p><!-- wp:paragraph --></p> <p>Our open days have a range of activities which often include*:</p> <p><!-- /wp:paragraph --></p> <p><!-- wp:list --></p> <ul class='wp-block-list'><!-- wp:list-item --></p> <li>car cutting (extrication) demonstrations</li> <p><!-- /wp:list-item --></p> <p><!-- wp:list-item --></p> <li>rope rescue demos</li> <p><!-- /wp:list-item --></p> <p><!-- wp:list-item --></p> <li>virtual reality road safety experience</li> <p><!-- /wp:list-item --></p> <p><!-- wp:list-item --></p> <li>meet and greet with your local firefighters</li> <p><!-- /wp:list-item --></p> <p><!-- wp:list-item --></p> <li>see our fire engines and vehicles, often with the chance to get inside and take pictures!</li> <p><!-- /wp:list-item --></p> <p><!-- wp:list-item --></p> <li>various community stalls such as face-painting, food, drink and sweets, and sometimes even an ice cream van!</li> <p><!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <p><!-- /wp:list --></p> <p><!-- wp:paragraph --></p> <p>We’re often joined by our Fire Cadets, partners such as West Midlands Police or St John Ambulance, and more.
