"This Is My Story, This Was My Life" is a series of events sharing the lived experiences of black women, combined with music and visual arts
We provide a safe, creative space to share the lived experiences of six black women, interwoven with the healing power of live music and visual art.
Through photography, drawings, and our collaborative "Message to a Friend" canvas, we create a vital dialogue that builds community awareness and bridges the gap between advocacy and the creative industries.
Each event features:
2 Guest Speakers: Black women sharing powerful, real-life testimonies.
2 Musical Artists: Live performances ranging from singers and rappers to spoken word poets.
Visual Art Gallery: Showcasing stunning work by Black female artists.
Interactive Q&A: A dedicated session to discuss the themes of the night.
Networking & Celebration: Time to connect, support, and celebrate the brilliance of Black women.
Complimentary refreshments are provided at all events.

Venue: Grosvenor Road Studios, 16 Grosvenor Road, Handsworth, Birmingham, B20 3NP.
Time: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM (All Dates)
Event 1: Saturday, 18th April 2026 (Free Entry - Ticket Required)
Event 2: Saturday, 25th July 2026 (£20 - Buy One Get One Free)
Event 3: Saturday, 19th September 2026 (£20 - Buy One Get One Free)

This project was designed by Javina Greene and is proudly funded by Arts Council England.
Please note: We are a community-focused project. 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales are reinvested directly back into the project to ensure these events can continue to support and uplift Black women in our city.
