In this session, you will learn the basic techniques to get you started with the timeless classic of lacemaking.
Drawing from her own experience and historical research, Heather will introduce beginners to the art of lacemaking using a rough thread to outline a basic autumnal design.
Lace was once a major fashion item used to decorate garments, accessories and furnishings.
There are different types of lacemaking to explore further from the exotic reticella, Ruskin style, needle lace and the more familiar bobbin lace or pillow lace.
This session is in our upstairs workshop space. We have a lift! Otherwise it is fourteen steps turn a corner and two more steps. There is an accessible loo on the same floor.
