Milestone: Streets Paved with Gold – Film Screening & Q&A with Victor Richards

A powerful journey of hope, courage, resilience and heritage.

SACHA – Southport African Caribbean Heritage Association invites you to a very special screening of Milestone: Streets Paved with Gold, followed by an exclusive live Q&A with writer, actor and storyteller Victor Richards.

Honouring the Windrush generation and the Caribbean migration experience in Britain, this powerful and moving film is adapted from Victor Richards' acclaimed one-man play, Streets Paved with Gold.

The story follows Augustus Cleveland Johnson, from his arrival in England in 1948, through decades of resilience, family, culture and identity. Blending powerful voiceover, vivid recreations and historical archive, Milestone: Streets Paved with Gold offers a heartfelt tribute to a generation whose contribution helped shape modern Britain.

Filmed across Leicester and the Midlands, this cinematic journey is a moving and sensory celebration of Caribbean-British heritage, preserving stories and experiences that deserve to be remembered, shared and passed on to future generations.

Meet Victor Richards

Following the screening, stay for a live Q&A with Victor Richards, the writer and star of the film. Victor is an actor, writer, poet and storyteller whose work has spent decades bringing the stories, experiences, joys and struggles of British West Indian communities to audiences across the UK and beyond.

This is your opportunity to hear more about the inspiration behind Milestone, its journey from a long-running stage production to the big screen, and the importance of keeping Windrush stories alive.

Whether you have a personal connection to the Windrush generation, want to learn more about this important chapter in British history, or simply enjoy powerful storytelling, this promises to be an inspiring and thought-provoking afternoon.
