A Talk by Liz Marsland

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) is a global leader in commemorating the sacrifices made during the two World Wars. Established by Royal Charter in 1917, the CWGC works on behalf of the Governments of Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom to honour the 1.7 million men and women from the Commonwealth who lost their lives in these conflicts.

The talk will encompass the formation of the CWGC and explore the diverse memorials worldwide, including horticulture, reburials, and rededications. It will also delve into World War II research and the restoration of the Menin Gate and local graves.
