About This Event

The Ancient Spinning Circle is scheduled for 7 November 2026 at the Hengistbury Head Visitor Centre. Participants will engage in spinning yarn from sheep while discussing life in the Iron Age roundhouse. The ticket price is £6.00.

Join this regular event where we will sit in our Iron Age roundhouse, spin yarn from our sheep and talk about life and the past.

"Come ye and sit awhile as your ancestors did in olden times at the craft of making yarn for fabric that will be wounden through warp and woof to be worn as clað to keep the weder out"

Come and step back in time and learn the ancient craft of carding and spinning fleece from the sheep at Hengistbury Head inside an Iron Age roundhouse. Join the spinning circle, where yarn is spun and stories are shared, as people have done over many centuries, in preparation for weaving the vital fabrics worn and used in everyday life.

An opportunity to see our volunteer-built Iron Age roundhouse, meet new people and have a go at spinning yarn we use for our historic weaving projects.

Great for your mental health and wellness, and to connect back to nature. Saturday September 5th, 10am - 12pm
