As part of Arts By The Sea Fringe festival in Bournemouth, we will be taking over Patch for 3 days of hi-fi sounds on our bespoke analogue soundsystem; 'Hearing Colours'
Across the 3 days we will play host to DJs, live performances, and visual elements that will showcase some incredible talent who will make full use of this incredible soundsystem!
Friday 2nd October:
7pm - 12am
£5 Earlybird / £8 General / £12 Door
Kicking off the weekend, we will hand over the system to 3 DJs who will be spanning genres and digging deep into their collection for a party that isn't to be missed. Slip on your dancing shoes and snazzyist of outfits, and come party!
Gary Ellis (Deep House / Nu Jazz )
Gary Ellis has spent decades behind the decks, building a sound rooted in deep house, jazz, disco and the tougher edges of underground club music. His sets move through deep house, spiritual and Afro-influenced grooves, jazz-flecked electronics, raw US house, dubbed-out rhythm and carefully chosen curveballs. Equally comfortable building a room early or pushing a late-night floor, Gary plays with the patience of a lifelong collector rather than a playlist DJ.
No Leftovers (House / Disco / Outernational)
You might have seen him as 1/3 of Disco Juju or at their Disco Suburbia residency at Smokin' Aces, playing global flavours that make your rear end wiggle!
Since a more successful DJ stole their birth name, they're now playing under 'No Leftovers'. Expect a mixture of Electronic music, Outernational, House and Disco.
Juju Sam (Garage / Jungle / Bass)
Designer & Builder of the Hearing Colours Soundsystem, Sam has spent years DJing & collecting records that span genres from World music, to Carnival inspired rhythms, UK bass, Dancehall, House, Garage, Grime, Jungle and beyond. Blending sounds that focus on percussion & bass, with a few curveballs to keep you on your toes!
Moodz
To compliment the sounds, Moodz will be installing his beautiful vintage analogue oil wheel projections to colour the space with soft focus and ever changing patterns.
Saturday 3rd October:
7pm - 12am
£5 Earlybird / £8 General / £12 Door
Installment 2 of the weekend will see 3 very special acts of live experimental electronic music all performed on hardware. Synths, drum machines, mixers, mpcs, a drum kit, bass guitar, and modular synths, to name a few bits of kit you will see on the night!
Second Nature Collective (Live)
The second nature project was started back in 1998 by Trevor Loveys and Friends with a shared love of Deep House, Hip Hop, Jazz, Funk and Soul. Releasing their music productions on various labels in the 90's and early 2000's, they're back in the studio to work on new music, this time, Trevor and long time friend and music producer Shane Clowery (Crease) are also working with Drummer Chris 'the drum' Edwards. Their sound draws influences from their early hip hop electro beginnings through the summer of love into the deeper 90's grooves.
This live act with drums has not yet been seen or heard in Bournemouth, and isn't one to be missed.
Swn Da-Da (Live)
Swn Da-Da is an experimental electronic music project from West Wales, creating raw, improvised performances blending deep house, ambient electronics, live drum loops, psychedelic trance states and analogue experimentation.
Built using synthesizers, samplers, drum machines, live bass and effects, each performance is improvised in the moment - allowing rhythm, texture and happy accidents to shape the music. There are no fixed tracks or rehearsed arrangements; the music evolves live, with machines and musicians responding to each other.
Influenced by Dadaism, sound system culture and the wild Welsh landscape, Swn Da-Da explores the space between electronic music and live performance - physical, hypnotic and deliberately unpredictable.
Each Swn Da-Da performance is entirely unique, created live in the moment and never to be repeated. Come and join us on a journey of discovery as the music shapes the moment and the moment shapes the music! Ymlaen! Onwards!
Owt-Haus (Live)
Owt-Haus can often be found pushing buttons and twisting knobs, creating noises to bother the silk spinning co-habitors of a decaying brick building; 'out the back'.
After eons of trying out relationships with kit combinations, he is travelling to this event armed with a Microfreak, MAM NM33 synth modules, a Polyend tracker and vinyl samples on a technics 1210
Expect odd electronic sounds, wavy melodic grooves, and repetitive bumpy basslines.
Moodz
To compliment the sounds, Moodz will be installing his beautiful vintage analogue oil wheel projections to colour the space with soft focus and ever changing patterns.
Sunday 4th October:
1pm - 7pm
£5 Earlybird / £8 General / £12 Door
NoBorders Takeover
Rounding off the weekend at Patch, we will be handing the keys over to 'NoBorders' for a super relaxed Sunday session filled with ambient sounds and textures with a nod to Middle Eastern flavours. Relax in
