What you can expect from your TAKE A PATTERN MAKE IT FIT MASTERCLASS

You are booking a Sew with Nelly Bea MASTERCLASS which focusses on the skills you will need to make a commercial pattern match your body shape. Your master class will be held on Saturday 10th October from 10.00-12.30.

Let’s face it, ALL of our bodies are different, making the fitting of the garments we make a CHALLENGE! It’s so soul destroying to spend lots of money on fabric and lots of time making something to find that we are not happy with the fit! you may choose to bring along a pattern you just can't get right or, it may be a pattern you would like to work on for the first time. During our time together we will be taking a commercial pattern OF YOUR CHOICE and working towards achieving a PERFECT fit for you.

How & where to measure your body

Measuring you pattern

Key alterations

Making a mock up

Fitting and alterations

How the day will work:

During the Masterclass we will be working with A PATTERN OF YOUR CHOICE adapting it to fit your body shape and making a toile to 'prove' our adapted patterns. Please bring along your chosen pattern.

10.00 – 10.20 INTRODUCTION: Masterclass in measuring our bodies, our patterns and adapting our pattern

10.20 – 11.30 PUTTING THINGS INTO PRACTICE: Adapting and creating a pattern which more closely matches our body shapes. Creating a toile to test the pattern.

11.30 -12.30 PERFECTING: Time to test the fit! Fitting and fine tuning the pattern & toile.

Materials & Equipement: What will be provided and what you will need to bring:

I will have calico/ sheeting which you are more than welcome to use for your toile however, if you are using a stretch pattern or one which required a drapey fabric you will need to supply your own fabric for the toile. I will also provide you any other materials, resources and equipment you need to complete the workshop.

You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine for making your toile but if you would like to borrow one of my machines please let me know.

YOU WILL NEED TO BRING THE PATTERN YOU WISH TO WORK WITH.

Additional information:

This is going to be a BUSY workshop! I am not planning a scheduled break but please feel free to bring drinks and snacks to keep you going during the workshop. As you will be trying on your toile please consider wearing a fitted vest style top so that its easy for you to take your measurements and to try your bodice on.
