Our Guest

Linda Green is the bestselling author of thirteen novels, which have sold more than 1.5 million copies in the UK, with foreign rights sold in 15 territories. Her new novel If I Had My Time Again, is out in ebook, audiobook, hardback and paperback from Boldwood Books. Her previous novel, One Moment, was a Radio 2 Book Club pick, and her ninth novel, The Last Thing She Told Me was a Richard and Judy Book Club selection.

She wrote her first novella at the age of nine, but unfortunately, the pony-based time-travel thriller genre never took off. She wrote her first novel twenty years later and persevered through 102 rejections from agents, before getting her first book deal. Linda is also an award-winning journalist who has written for The Guardian and The Big Issue, and a creative writing tutor, working with students aged from eight to eighty-four.

Linda retains a keen interest in news, current affairs and politics. She has appeared on Newsnight, Radio 5 Live, Radio Four's Woman's Hour and BBC News. She particularly enjoyed taking former PM David Cameron to task on Leadership Question Time in 2015.

In a previous life, Linda enjoyed travelling and has trekked through the Bornean jungle to see wild orangutans, travelled to the edge of the Arctic Circle to watch polar bears, and as far south as Tierra del Fuego to photograph penguins.

She lives in West Yorkshire with her husband.

Rebecca Ryan is the author of My (extra)Ordinary Life, The Philosophy of Love and The Next Chapter, although she can’t quite believe that she’s written three whole books. She left a career in teaching to pursue writing full time, and now mostly spends her days making up stories, replying to emails from her children’s school, or killing off brain cells watching reels on Instagram. Rebecca lives in Bradford with her three children, no small number of notebooks and an expansive collection of scatter cushions. And she wouldn’t have it any other way.

About the books:

If I Had My Time Again by Linda Green

How would you live your life differently, if you had a second chance?

Emily, Carl and Jules have all ‘gone before their time’. After dying on the same day in Halifax, West Yorkshire, they each wake up in a room in a hotel on the outskirts of town. They’re instructed to meet in the basement headquarters of film production company ‘End Credits’, where no-nonsense producer Suzi tells them their lives have been secretly filmed and they must edit their own biopic before they are able to move on.

There are only three rules: they can’t prevent their own deaths or anyone else’s, they can't kill anyone but they can make a director's cut - one change which will alter everything that comes after.

With the chance to undo their regrets and explore life’s infinite possibilities, what will they choose?

The Edge of Always by Rebecca Ryan

For best friends Luna and Emmett, each summer was an endless adventure. Reuniting each year, they shared their greatest hopes, dreams and stolen glances under the warm sun. They were two teenagers on the verge of something more, but as they stood at the brink of their future, a devastating secret tore them apart.

For two decades, Luna is heartbroken in more ways than one, until she discovers a portrait of herself in Paris. In a twist of fate, sitting beside her is Emmett, the only boy she ever dreamt of being with. He’s desperate to explain, hoping that the painting holds the answers to twenty years of unspoken questions.

Will one week in Paris be enough to heal the wounds between them, and will they finally get their always?

Dive into this captivating love story for fans of Jojo Moyes, Josie Silver and Carley Fortune.
