<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Drawings, paintings and fabric pieces</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:pattern {slug:ajde_events/blocks} /--> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class=wp-block-list><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Running: Friday 4th September - Wednesday 30th September 2026</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --> <!-- wp:list-item --> <li>The Gallery Upstairs</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>About a year ago I came across the phrase ‘patterns of the universe’ that drew attention to the startling similarities between bronchi in the lungs, the patterns of winter trees and aerial photos of river tributaries and I started to draw some of those patterns as accurately as I could. Once I accepted that these drawings might take a long time, which is possible when you are drawing from a photo rather than trying to catch a fleeting scene in plein air, I began to appreciate the meditative quality of drawing; a quality that has been useful during the last few months of my husband’s illness and death. In my practice I draw alongside my textile work, and I have always depicted people, so together with the patterns I started a long series of detailed pencil drawings on fabric of individuals from photos, and am pleased with the resulting transparency and sense of impermanence.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Unit 9 Gallery, South Square Centre. </strong><strong>Opening night Friday 4th September 6-9pm </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
