About This Event

In a world of artificial intelligence and rapid technological change, what does it mean to be human today?

On Friday 30th October at 7.30pm, Bradford Cathedral will host Re:Imagine Humanity, an open and thoughtful conversation about what it means to be human in an age of artificial intelligence, biotechnology and rapid technological change.

Our main contributor will be Dr Nathan Mladin, a theologian and ethicist whose work explores the relationship between technology, society, faith and human flourishing. Drawing on his experience of engaging with some of the ethical questions raised by technological change, Nathan will help us look beyond both the excitement and anxiety surrounding new technologies, asking deeper questions about the kind of people and society we are becoming.

What makes a person a person when technology can increasingly imitate human intelligence, creativity and communication? Can artificial intelligence genuinely create, or does creativity depend upon something distinctively human? What happens to our understanding of dignity when biotechnology can alter, enhance or extend human life?

Through thoughtful discussion, shared food and open conversation, we will explore not simply what technology can do, but what kind of world we want to create... and what it means to remain human within it.

The Re:Imagine series, launched in 2025, seeks to create space for courageous, creative, and collaborative conversations that tackle some of the most pressing issues of our time. Each event aims not just to discuss problems but to spark fresh imagination about possible futures.
