The show’s Musical Director, Rachel Modest founded her first gospel choir in Wakefield over 25 years ago, and shot to fame in 2022 when she became a semi-finalist on ITV’s The Voice, as part of the legendary Tom Jones’ team. Rachel single handedly arranged a full set of over 20 songs for the Motown Gospel Choir, and describes the show as “a reimagining of the biggest Motown hits, blended with beautiful gospel inspired harmonies. I was brought up surrounded by such an eclectic mix of music, but I cut my stripes in the church, so it has been a dream of mine to combine my love of gospel with the songs from the Motown era which shaped my childhood.” The Motown Gospel Choir played in multiple venues in 2024, where audiences were blown away by the amazing vocals of the soloists, and the stunning harmonies of the choir that made their hairs stand on end.
