Whether you have just learned how the pieces move or you have been playing online for a while but want to try playing face-to-face, this meetup is designed for you. We are a relaxed group of beginners who meet up to share a few games in a supportive, low-pressure environment. The focus here is not on being competitive or climbing a ranking, but simply on getting comfortable playing in person and enjoying the social side of the game. We typically meet at a local cafe in Brighton & Hove to grab a drink and set up a few boards. If you have a travel chess set, feel free to bring it along, though we always have a few extras on hand. There is no need to worry about your skill level; we are all here to learn from our mistakes and improve at our own pace. If you are curious about the game and looking for a friendly group to practice with, we would love to have you join us. Please take a moment to RSVP if you think you can make it, as it helps us get a sense of how many tables we need to reserve.
