Children's creative pottery workshop every Saturday at Liberation Art Gallery, hosted by our resident ceramic artist in central Brighton.

Embark on a creative journey with your little ones at our Children's Pottery Workshop!

A joyful, hands-on pottery workshop designed especially for children, where young makers can explore clay, creativity and confidence in a calm, nurturing studio environment.

Ages 5 +

Children will be guided through simple hand-building pottery techniques, encouraged to experiment, express themselves and create their own unique ceramic piece to take home.

This workshop is for children only. All our artists are DBS cleared, and the gallery allocates a child-only space on Sunday mornings.

What’s Included

• Guided pottery session led by a professional ceramic artist

• All clay, tools and materials

• Aprons and protective equipment

• Calm, creative studio setting in the heart of the beautiful Lanes

This creative workshop includes 1 & a quarter hours of handbuilding with clay. Children of all ages are welcome. All materials are provided; just remember to bring along an old t-shirt for a mess-free experience!

A note for parents and carers

Our workshops are all about giving children the freedom to explore their creativity, experiment and bring their own ideas to life.

Parents and carers are encouraged to stay and enjoy the experience alongside their child, particularly if they need a little reassurance. We ask that adults take a supportive back seat, allowing children to make their own creative choices, work at their own pace and discover things for themselves.

Our Approach

Sessions are led by our resident artists, all safeguarding trained and experienced in wellbeing-led creative practice, creating a calm, supportive and inspiring environment where children can feel safe, confident and creatively free.

All workshop staff are enhanced DBS checked, and the gallery follows full safeguarding and health & safety policies to ensure your child’s wellbeing. Parents are welcome to stay in the gallery if they prefer, or can take a well-deserved break and enjoy one of the many nearby cafés and restaurants in Brighton’s historic Lanes while their child enjoys focused creative time.

The session costs just £27 per child, providing affordable access to creativity and a chance for your child to develop confidence, imagination, and hands-on artistic skills.

This workshop is the perfect way for children to immerse themselves in clay, enjoy the process of making, and create with guidance in a friendly, professional environment.

Firing

You can either choose to fire your pottery (just £5 per person) or take away your pottery. If you choose to fire, this enables you to return and glaze your ceramics. Firing typically takes 4-6 weeks. You must collect fired pieces within 60 days, as we cannot guarantee your piece will be in the gallery space, due to our storage capacity.
