The third gathering in a five-part series transforming a forgotten piece of land through collective making, reflection, and care.

INTRA-OUTER is an invitation for QTIPOC and their queer allies to come together, slow down and engage with a changing piece of land through reflection and collective action.

Across five gatherings, we will transform a disused pocket of the We Build Brighton CIC plot into a little sanctuary for creativity, presence and pause. Through clearing, mapping, making and embodied practice, we will explore the relationship between our inner landscapes and the environments we create around us.

Each session will begin with an opportunity to tune into the theme of the phase, before moving into collective work on the land. Together, we will create a place for reflection, connection and care - one that becomes as we do.

PHASE 03:

FORTIFICATION

AUGUST 23RD | 11:00–16:00

Having mapped what has emerged, we turn towards strengthening it. What needs support so it can take form? What will help it hold?

Building on the pathways, gathering places and possibilities identified in the previous phase, we'll begin to give the space greater form. Collectively, we’ll transform materials already present on site, and begin to lay down the foundations for creating structure, privacy, and places for connection and observation.

After a simple lunch made with harvest from the plot, we’ll close the day by turning inward - considering what might help us feel held and supported within ourselves. We'll gently explore the idea of personal fortification, and using foraged produce, we will create something to carry a sense of grounding, protection, and resilience beyond the site.

All gatherings are FREE.

What to bring: Please note: we will be using tools - some powered. All safety gear will be provided. Please wear proper shoes / boots. Please also bring a water bottle.

Accessibility note: Due to the current condition and location of the plot, this series is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. We are committed to improving access to the site and hope to make future adaptations as the space develops. Please get in touch if you have access needs or questions about the site.

Getting here: Please arrive at 10:45 (all meet at the grassed area on the corner of Natal and Nesbitt road - just before the gate) where we will all enter the site together.
