Come film with us in front of or behind the camera. The finished film will premiere the following week at the Dada Cabaret.

In 1977, an unidentified student was found dead in his Paris apartment.

The only things found in the room were a bundle of notes on quantum mechanics and a reel of an apparently unknown film entitled Le triangle (三角形).

The film was described as brightly coloured, with a triangular rather than rectangular frame. It told the story of a convent and its gradual conversion to a mysterious new religion: Le triangle (三角形). The film contained text in both French and Japanese, but no other languages.

The film was subsequently lost.

Tonight, we will attempt to recreate it.

Drawing on the fragmentary descriptions of the original, we will reconstruct Le triangle (三角形) through a process of telepathy, improvisation and collective filmmaking. There is no finished script, no surviving footage and no guarantee that anyone knows what the film is supposed to be.

Following our November session on Nuns in Cinema, we will take the convent, the nun, the triangular frame and the mysterious religion of Le triangle as our starting points and see what emerges.

Will we reconstruct a lost masterpiece?

Will we uncover the true meaning of Le triangle?

Or will we accidentally make an entirely different film?

The only way to find out is to make it.

What will happen in this session

For one evening only, we’ll become a film crew—and a cast.

Come ready to dress up and become a star—or, if you’d rather stay behind the scenes, we’ll have plenty of roles to fill: lights, sound, props, and production.

Come dressed up in nun/convent attire, or if you can't find anything, we'll bring a collection of outfits.

The finished film will premiere the following week at the Dada Cabaret and Christmas Party. (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1998484185998)
