Brush techniques (including thin lines)
Layering paint
How to start copying a photo of a landscape
Focus for the course:
So that we're not too broad and dont get lost in infinite technqiues, we're going to stick to more open grassy landscape style paintings - so think English countryside, Sussex Downs, marshlands, farmland etc.
Low pressure:
This class is a mixture of learning something new and more in depth as well as just having a lovely day. It’s a very low pressure and friendly class - while learning techniques - the most important thing is to just experiment and see what happens, and enjoy doing something arty surrounded by nature!
What you'll come away with:
A sketchbook filled with mark making, experiments, drawings and paintings
A few more finalised paintings of landscapes
More techniques that can be used when painting in watercolour
An understanding of painting landscapes
What's included:
All materials
Tea and coffee from the urn
Who it's for:
Beginners and anyone keen on learning to paint in watercolour! Many people who come to my classes haven't painted since school - if you are one of those people you're very welcome.
Come with an open mind, and try not to pressure yourself to create a masterpiece but focus on experimenting and learning, thats the main thing :-)
How to get here:
The Lecture Room at The Friends Meeting House - As you come into the main entrance of the building, there should be a receptionist to give directions. Otherwise, turn left as you come in - the lecture room is on the ground floor. Walk down the hall and turn right. On the left wall of the corridoor will be the door to the lecture room.
Public transport / walking
This venue is right next to North Street which is where all / most Brighjton & Hove buses pass through
Parking near by:
There are many many parking spots near by, however as its quite expensive in central Brighton I'd recommend getting public transport, cycling or walking.
