BRISTOL 1904 ARTS is delighted to welcome internationally acclaimed poet and composer Martin Kiszko for a unique evening celebrating one of history's greatest treasures, the Bayeux Tapestry. Through the world's first epic poem inspired by its remarkable story, Martin brings the famous tapestry vividly to life in a performance unlike any other.
Created to mark the 1,000th anniversary of the birth of William the Conqueror, the evening combines poetry, storytelling and history, exploring the tapestry's symbolism, enduring mysteries and the fascinating questions that continue to captivate historians today. As Sir Tony Robinson remarked, "History, just the way I like it."
Martin's performances have taken him from the Royal Albert Hall and the Edinburgh Fringe to audiences across Europe, the USA, China and the Middle East. This is a rare opportunity to experience his acclaimed work in the intimate surroundings of Bristol 1904 Arts' historic Performance Hall.

Tickets are just £12 for members and £15 for guests
Yes, this event is open to both club members and the public, but we are a small, intimate venue with just 110 seats, so tickets are available on a first come, first served basis.
This special event will take place in our iconic Performance Hall within The Red Lodge, Park Row, Bristol BS1 5LJ.

Doors Open: Through the Knot Garden (in Lodge Street) from 7:00pm on Friday 2nd October 2026.
Performance starts: 7:30 pm
Dress code: Smart Casual
Bar: Serving beers, wines, spirits and non-alcoholic drinks
