About This Event

Bristol 1904 Arts presents Bayeux Tapestry: The Epic Poem at The Red Lodge Museum in Bristol on 2026-10-02. The event is a theatrical performance about the Bayeux Tapestry, priced at £13.70 - £16.96.

The world's first epic poem about the Bayeux Tapestry, with history, humour and the mysteries behind history's greatest masterpiece.

BRISTOL 1904 ARTS is delighted to welcome internationally acclaimed poet and composer Martin Kiszko for a unique evening celebrating one of history's greatest treasures, the Bayeux Tapestry. Through the world's first epic poem inspired by its remarkable story, Martin brings the famous tapestry vividly to life in a performance unlike any other.

Created to mark the 1,000th anniversary of the birth of William the Conqueror, the evening combines poetry, storytelling and history, exploring the tapestry's symbolism, enduring mysteries and the fascinating questions that continue to captivate historians today. As Sir Tony Robinson remarked, "History, just the way I like it."

Martin's performances have taken him from the Royal Albert Hall and the Edinburgh Fringe to audiences across Europe, the USA, China and the Middle East. This is a rare opportunity to experience his acclaimed work in the intimate surroundings of Bristol 1904 Arts' historic Performance Hall.

An unforgettable evening of history, poetry, humour and storytelling.
