WECIL hosts an accessible community gathering in Bristol to discuss hate crime, discrimination and belonging. The event aims to amplify disabled voices and takes place on 21 September 2026. Tickets are listed as free.

WECIL hosts a free, accessible gathering on hate crime, discrimination and belonging, amplifying disabled voices and driving change.

Join us at WECIL for a fun and supportive Community Gathering to discuss Hate Crime, Discrimination and Belonging to increase trust, confidence and facilitate strategies for change. This will be a safe and welcoming space to discuss experiences of Hate Crime as well as the key challenges and barriers relating to research and reporting.The event will be attended by:

- Disabled people with lived experience

- Local decision-makers and policymakers

- Disability rights organisations and support groups

- Researchers and academics studying disability, poverty and social policy.

Outcomes:

- To hear and amplify the voices of disabled people with lived experience.

- To connect and network with both the WECIL team, other disabled people and professional people.

- Share insights and experiences with policy makers and local leaders.

- To move forward by collaboratively action planning, advocating and plan systemic change.

Access and accessibility:

The event is being held at The Vassall Centre in Fishponds, Bristol, which is a pioneering, fully accessible, barrier-free single-storey building featuringlevel access. There is dedicated disabled parking, accessible toilets including a Changing Places toilet with hoist and the building has hearing loops throughout.

The event is free and there will be tea, coffee and a free lunch provided. Should you have any allergies or dietary requirements, please contact us Everyone is welcome including the friends, family and carers of disabled people and to thank you for your participation anyone who attends will receive a £10 voucher from us.

We are a charity and have a limited budget to reimburse transport and travel costs. Please contact navigators@wecil.org.uk to preauthorise transport expenses.
