The Community Orchard Workday is an upcoming volunteer event on 6 October 2026 at Elderberry Walk Open Space in Bristol. Participants are invited to assist with fruit tree care in the community orchard.
Join us for a day of fruit tree care in this beautiful community orchard
Please note: If you are wanting to take part as a work/corportate volunteer day please contact Janine at janine.connor@forestofavontrust.org before booking.
Join our Orchardist Janine to learn the key principles in orchard and fruit tree care.
Task inculde:
weeding around the base of the trees to support their growth
mulching - laying a protective covering around the base of the trees to help them stay hydrated
repairing tree guards
You don't need any previous experience or skills. We'll take you through everything when you arrive and we'll be on hand to support you throughout the day. Health and safety will be covered at the start of the session.
What to bring
We'll provide all the tools and equipment you'll need. Please bring:
a packed lunch
plenty of water
sturdy footwear and clothes you don't mind getting muddy
Unfortunately there are no toilet facilities on site
Meeting point
Please do not refer to the Eventbrite map for directions - it will not take you to the correct meeting place.
