Do you want to build skills to help shape your community?
At St Anne’s House, we’ve been wondering: what does it mean to be good neighbours to each other? How do we make sure that we are connected, resourced and able to strengthen our neighbourhoods as they change and grow?
This free one-day training is an opportunity to learn together and explore Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), an approach to connecting communities and building on the skills, knowledge, relationships and resources that already exist around us.
Together, we’ll explore how to:
Build a strong network with your neighbours
Take action on the things that are important to you
Recognise and build on the strengths already present in your community
Access resources and support to help grow your ideas
Who is it for?
The training and co-creation workshops are open to all local residents of St Annes, volunteers in community groups and folks in organisations that are working with(in) communities or groups nearby with a BS4 Postcode.
You can join if you have never done anything like this before too. In fact, if that’s you, we want to hear from you especially!
What happens next?
This training is the first step in our wider Connecting in Neighbourhoods programme.
In November, there will be free public co-design workshops where you can bring an idea you’d like to try in your community. You don’t need to have a fully formed idea. Together, we’ll develop and refine ideas ready to share at a community pitch dinner in December.
At the December dinner, local people will hear and decide on the ideas they want to support, with projects having the chance to receive a £500 kickstart fund, alongside producer support and guidance from St Anne’s House.
You can come to one part of the programme or take part in them all.
Access and refreshments
We want as many people as possible to be able to take part. Please let us know when booking if you have any access requirements, allergies or dietary requirements.
We have a budget available to support a range of access adjustments, so please get in touch if there is anything you need to make it possible for you to attend.
