We will be spending two hours enjoying the coffee at Dareshack, and playing board/card games, or having a natter about EA Forum drama, Less Wrong takes, and arguing that ACX should be completely dedicated to writing "Bay Area House Party" posts. Some will be going to see Michael Safar stand up comedy next door at 1700. I'll have an EA shirt on and generally will be looking out for lost people. This is the month decreed that it will be Astral Codex Ten (ACX) meetup month. What's ACX? It's a blog focused on science, medicine (especially within psychiatry), philosophy, politics, Effective Altruism, and futurism, written by Scott Alexander, a San Francisco Bay Area psychiatrist. What's Effective Altruism (EA)? Effective Altruism is a philosophy and social movement that applies evidence and reason to determining the most effective ways to improve the world.
