Get ready for a captivating celebration of all things transport as the Avon Valley Railway hosts its annual Festival of Transport at Bitton Station on Saturday 26 September. This highly anticipated event promises a delightful day out for enthusiasts and families alike, showcasing a superb collection of vintage vehicles, meticulously maintained cycles, and a variety of engaging trade stands. Visitors will be treated to an exceptionally busy timetable, with both steam and heritage diesel trains running throughout the day, offering a nostalgic journey through the picturesque Avon Valley. Complementing the railway's offerings, a heritage bus service will operate from Keynsham railway station, providing convenient access and another layer of vintage charm. Inside a static carriage, attendees can relax and immerse themselves in classic railway and transport films, adding a cinematic dimension to the festivities. The festival features a packed display of vintage vehicles, cycles and transport memorabilia. Static exhibits include Sentinel steam lorries, the only surviving steam bus, Fry’s fire engine, traction and stationery steam engines, military and farm vehicles, and Douglas Vespa scooters. On the road, the Penny Farthing Bike Tour from Bath will be on display and riding to Bath in Edwardian dress, with members of The Veteran-Cycle Club and The Solent Veteran Bicycle & Tricycle Club taking part.

Trains run all day on an intensive timetable, with both steam and heritage diesel services operating between Bitton and Avon Riverside stations. A heritage bus service also runs from Keynsham railway station overflow car park, linking to the festival site. Inside the static carriage ‘Rose’, classic railway and transport films are shown continuously.
