About This Event

I Am Making Art: Parallel Imprints is a hands-on workshop at Spike Island Artspace Ltd in Bristol on September 12th, 2026. The event will explore 3D making processes with art fabricators Lisa and Mark from Plenderleith Scantlebury. Entry costs range from free to £3.96.

Join a playful, hands-on workshop exploring 3D making processes with art fabricators Lisa and Mark from Plenderleith Scantlebury.

Drawing on the architectural installations in Spike Island’s exhibition, Nancy Lupo: Several Chickens Later, Lisa and Mark will guide you through an experimental process of making and re-making objects, that explore how collective fantasies and emotions become embedded in form.

Participants are invited to create clay forms through a combination of hand building, moulding and throwing on a potter’s wheel, before re-casting the forms in plaster to make parallel imprints of the real world.

This workshop is open to all ages and abilities – children should be supervised by an adult. All equipment is provided, but participants are also encouraged to bring objects to create unique imprints.

Please note: Participants should wear clothes they don’t mind getting messy.
