About This Event

The lecture will present JAXA's numerical and experimental work to predict stall and buffet, advancing Certification by Analysis Speaker: Dr Andrea Sansica - Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), Senior Researcher JAXA is advancing numerical tools to predict off-design aerodynamic phenomena, stall and transonic buffet, to enable Certification by Analysis and digital aircraft development. These unsteady, separated flows drive vibrations, fatigue, and performance loss, and are currently avoided through conservative flight-envelope restrictions that constrain aircraft performance. Because existing numerical methods are well calibrated only within limited flight regimes, JAXA is working to extend predictive capability across a wider range of design and off-design conditions, motivating this talk on its numerical and experimental efforts toward this goal. 25th of September 2026 - 18:30 Lecture starts UWE Frenchay campus, School of Engineering Lecture theatre, 3rd floor (room 3Z015) Visitors: By bus: Several bus lines serve the university campus. After getting off the bus, the School of Engineering building is within a 5-minute walk (See the map) By car: Three car parks are available at the East entrance.
