Enjoy songs and rhymes with your child in Long Ashton at the North Somerset Mobile Library. For babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers.

What to expect

Evidence shows that children who are familiar with rhymes find it easier when they begin learning to read and our Rhymetime sessions are all about encouraging little ones to enjoy music and rhymes in a fun, safe and welcoming environment.

Rhymetimes are 30 minute sessions led by Library staff and our wonderful volunteers and involve a mixture of songs and spoken rhymes for you and your child to enjoy together - moving to the music is definitely encouraged!

Don't worry if your child becoming unsettled during the session, staff and volunteers are very experienced. If your child gets upset you are free to leave and re-join the session when your child is ready.

Rhymetimes are held on alternate Tuesdays during school term time.

Rhymetimes are free to attend but if you would like to make a donation, there is a marked donation bucket at these events. We are grateful for any donations but this is not required to attend a Rhymetime session.

The Venue

Our Rhymetimes are held inside the Long Ashton Community Centre’s Main Hall and after the session, the Mobile Library will be parked in the car park for you to browse for books to take home and enjoy. There is plenty of room to leave prams and pushchairs in the hall.

Please book a ticket for your family before the event so that we know how many parents and children will be attending. If your plans change and you are no longer able to attend, we would be grateful if you could cancel your place via Eventbrite in order to free the space up for someone else.
