There are many workshops for everyone to choose from. Choose your top 5 and take part in 3 throughout this day-long event hosted by Severn Park Fire & Rescue Training Centre.
Unless inidcated, workshops below are available to both Operational and Non-Operational Staff.
All workshops are subject to change and will be assigned on first come, first served basis so do not delay!
Breathing Apparatus - Non-Ops
This is your chance to wear Breathing Apparatus under the guidance of the training team. After receiving input on search procedures, you will use the equipment in an open-air environment. The challenge? You’ll be blindfolded and tasked with walking in a straight line between two points, relying on the search skills you’ve learned. It might sound easy, but the added difficulty of being blindfolded will put your training to the test.
Breathing Apparatus - Ops
After a brief set familiarisation, undertake a challenging Breathing Apparatus wear within an industrial complex, searching for multiple casualties. Use this as an opportunity to practise and refine your skills or opt for a coached and mentored wear with guidance from the training team.
RTC - Non-Ops
Observe a Road Traffic Collision (RTC) scenario while members of the training team guide you through the incident. Gain an understanding of the incident management process, the roles and responsibilities involved, and the tools and techniques used during extrications. You will also have the opportunity to operate some of the tools under supervision.
RTC - Ops
Participate in a complex practical Road Traffic Collision (RTC) scenario. Choose to take on the role of Incident Commander or Sector Commander or get hands-on with the tools to implement an extrication plan. The session concludes with a group debrief to discuss observations and key takeaways.
XVR Incident Command – Ops
Why not take the opportunity to refine your skills as a Level 1 (Crew Manager/Watch Manager) incident commander or try your hand at the role for the first time? Take part in a 4-pump scenario using advanced simulation software to create realistic situations in a dynamic group training environment.
Behind the Headset: Discover Fire Control - Ops/ Non-Ops
Answering the call is just the beginning…
Fire Control is at the heart of every emergency response, providing the vital link between the public and operational crews. This interactive workshop offers delegates an insight into the fast-paced and highly skilled world of Fire Control, exploring how Control colleagues manage emergency calls, assess risk, mobilise resources, and support incidents from the moment a call is received through to resolution.
Through practical examples and real-life scenarios, participants will gain a greater understanding of the critical decisions made in Fire Control, the technology and systems used to support emergency response, and the essential role Control personnel play in helping to keep communities and firefighters safe. Whether you're interested in operational response, career development, or learning more about another area of the fire and rescue service, this workshop provides a fascinating look behind the scenes of one of the Service's most important functions.
Specialisms Spotlight: Exploring Fire Investigation and HAZMAT - Ops/ Non-Ops
Join us for a hands-on workshop exploring two operational specialisms within the fire and rescue service: Fire Investigation (FI) and Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT).
The session is split into two halves, providing delegates with the opportunity to gain insight into the expertise, skills and equipment used within both disciplines.
In the Fire Investigation section, you'll learn how investigators determine the origin and cause of fires through a real-life case study, gain an overview of the fire investigation process, and see a practical demonstration from a specialist Fire Investigation Dog.
The HAZMAT element offers a unique insight into how we respond to some of the most complex and high-risk incidents our crews face. Delegates will be introduced to the specialist tools, guidance and technology used to identify and manage hazardous materials incidents, including detection and monitoring equipment and key information resources. You'll also discover the vital role of the Hazardous Materials Adviser (HMA) in supporting operational decision-making and helping to protect people, property and the environment.
Whether you're looking to broaden your operational knowledge, explore potential specialist pathways, or simply discover another side of the fire and rescue service, this engaging workshop will provide practical insights, spa
