About This Event

Swansea Sound will perform on 20 November 2026 at The Louisiana in Bristol. The band, formed during lockdown, has gained recognition for their unique sound and has released several acclaimed albums. Tickets for the event are priced at £14.30.

SWANSEA SOUND

Formed during lockdown, the band recorded three singles without actually meeting each other. Corporate Indie Band appeared as a cassette on specialist label Lavender Sweep. It got a lot of airplay, and the next releases were on 7” vinyl, including Indies Of the World, which made it into the UK vinyl Top 10. A debut album, Live At The Rum Puncheon, was released in 2021; Twentieth Century followed in 2023. Both albums won considerable critical acclaim.

‘The glorious sounds of C86 brought into the now.’ Thomas Patterson, Shindig.

‘Close to an indie pop miracle.’ Tim Sendra, All Music.

‘The C86 Crass.’ Stewart Lee

Swansea Sound have recorded live sessions for Riley & Coe (6 Music), John Kennedy (Radio X) and Evan Davies (WFMU, New York). They were selected by Stewart Lee for his ‘Legends Of Indie’ series of gigs in 2025 and are regular performers at the Laugharne Festival in Wales. They recently two tours of the US with label-mates Heavenly.

Swansea Sound are Hue Williams (The Pooh Sticks), Amelia Fletcher and Rob Pursey (Talulah Gosh, Heavenly, The Catenary Wires), Bob Collins (The Dentists), Ian Button, (Death in Vegas, Railcard).

QUCIK ROMANCE

If the bass line from The Rezillos’ “Flying Saucer Attack” married the vocal line from X-Ray Spex’s “Oh Bondage, Up Yours!”, with The Shangri-Las as bridesmaids; that’s Quick Romance. Singer, Matilda Scotland and her bandmates are real mean teens, in love with clothes, music and Brian Jones’s hair.

“Despite their tender years they combine raw talent with a knowledge of old school ’77 punk that manifests itself in a tight set that nods in the direction of X-Ray Spex. Definitely ones to watch.” –

EUROPEAN SUN

Steve Miles released his second album as European Sun earliuer this year, accompanied by Ian Button (drums), Rob Pursey (bass) and Elin Miles (additional vocals).

If one LP could act as a refutation of the toxic culture of ‘masculine energy’ and the tech bro-sponsored whipping up of hatred that blights our lives - this is it. Utterly devoid of that grim modern male quality ‘swagger’, sometimes echoing the casual, intimate, fragile tones of the TV Personalities, the songs are bluntly emotional but shamelessly catchy. On other occasions - louder occasions - the echo of an angry Wreckless Eric riff can be heard. . This hand-made music is the opposite of AI-generated crud. Every bit of it, even the chaotic bits – especially the chaotic bits - are deliberate and meticulously thought through
