A Guide to Anti-Racist Practice for Practitioners Committed to Creating a More Inclusive and Equitable World for Communities

Holistic, wellbeing and arts practitioners play a powerful role in shaping spaces for healing, expression, connection and transformation. Whether you work with clients, students, participants or communities, creating genuinely inclusive spaces requires us to recognise how racial bias, systemic racism and cultural assumptions can show up in our work, often in ways we may not immediately recognise.

Unveiling the Unconscious is a comprehensive anti-racism training course designed for holistic, therapeutic, wellbeing and arts practitioners who want to develop more inclusive, culturally aware and anti-racist approaches to their practice.

Through reflection, learning and practical tools, you will explore how race and racism can shape our interactions, professional spaces and the experiences of the people we work with. You will leave with greater awareness and practical strategies that can be applied within your own field, whether you work in wellbeing, movement, dance, creative arts, therapy or community practice.

What you will learn

Inclusive Language & Communication: Develop greater awareness of language, including how seemingly neutral words, phrases and assumptions can unintentionally exclude, stereotype or cause harm.

Recognising Unconscious Bias: Explore unconscious bias and how it can influence our perceptions, decisions and interactions with people from different racial and cultural backgrounds.

Developing Cultural Awareness: Build confidence in navigating cultural differences without stereotyping, and consider how to create environments that respect people's identities, heritage and lived experiences.

Understanding Racism & Wellbeing: Explore the relationship between racism, inequality and wellbeing, including how racial disparities can affect people's experiences of health, healing, creative and therapeutic spaces.

Building Anti-Racist & Inclusive Practice: Develop practical ways to embed anti-racist principles into your work, from the language and imagery you use to the environments you create and the ways you engage with clients, students, participants and communities.
